POING: Planet POING
The second release of POING (Rolf-Erik Nystrøm, sax; Frode Haltli, accordion; Håkon Thelin, double bass) presents a wide range of styles in international contemporary music:
Japanese Sachiyo Tsurumi’s multi-tonal and manga-naive piece ‘Sushiya 007’; Icelandic hardcore minimalism in Áki Ásgeirsson’s ‘435271’; noisy electronic music inspired by Xenakis in Jexper Holmen’s ‘Tension III: DISEMBARRASS’; lyrical and nostalgic atmospheres in Lars Petter Hagen’s ‘Kronologi’; wild absurdities in Maja Solveig Kjelstrup Ratkje’s “Rondo-Bastard-Ouverture-Explotion” – an exploded opera overture that never was heard, as well as a ‘No Title Tango and Milonga’ from the same composer and same opera.
